SMS MESSAGING TERMS OF SERVICE

Introduction and Types of SMS Communications

Upon consenting to receive text messages from Bay Area Health Psychology, you may receive communications related to (a) appointment scheduling, (b) payment of invoices, and (c) re-sending a video conference link to you. Please note that standard messaging disclosures apply.

Message Frequency

Our SMS message frequency is estimated to be fewer than 1 text message daily across all users.

Potential Fees for SMS Messaging

Carriers may charge fees for each message sent or received. These fees can vary based on the carrier's pricing structure and whether the message is sent domestically or internationally.

START, OPT-IN METHOD (Subscribe, Resume, Continue, Unstop)

Clients may opt-in for SMS messaging from Bay Area Health Psychology by completing an electronic version or a printed version of our Treatment Authorization and Agreement form, and indicating their agreement to receive SMS messages.

The Treatment Authorization and Agreement form includes instructions such as how to opt-in to SMS messaging, continue messaging, stop messaging, and resume or unstop messaging. It also includes standard notifications regarding SMS messaging such as:

  • Message frequency varies
  • Message and data rates may apply
  • Text HELP for assistance
  • To opt out at any time, text STOP

See our privacy policy at Our Confidentiality & Privacy Policy. This consent agreement will not be shared with third parties and affiliates for any purpose including marketing. No SMS communication will be initiated without client consent.

STOP, OPT-OUT METHOD (Unsubscribe, Quit, Cancel, End)

Clients can opt-out of SMS messaging from Bay Area Health Psychology by replying STOP at any time to any received SMS message. Once opted-out, they will receive no further SMS communication. The client's therapist or a staff member from Bay Area Health Psychology will contact the client by telephone to confirm his/her preference to not receive SMS messaging, and inform the client that he/she will not receive any more messages via SMS. The client will also be informed that he/she can opt back in at any time by informing his/her therapist or our administrator.

HELP

SMS messages will include this sentence: If you need assistance with SMS messaging to or from Bay Area Health Psychology, reply "HELP" to any SMS message and someone from Bay Area Health Psychology will contact you assist.
