In addition to private practice, Dr. Feinstein currently directs the intervention component of the SafeUseNow program as VP of Clinical Programs for Principled Strategies, Inc. SafeUseNow is a program that identifies and stratifies prescribers by level of risk in prescribing controlled drugs (e.g., opioids), and provides resources and education to prescribers to increase patient safety by improving patient safety.

Prior to his working at Principled Strategies, Dr. Feinstein served as VP and SVP of Product Development at United Behavioral Health (Optum, United Healthcare) in San Francisco. He contributed to the improvement of existing programs for depression management, post-bariatric surgery support, and co-morbid medical and behavioral conditions; and assisted in introducing new programs for autism and metabolic syndrome.

Before coming to UBH, Dr. Feinstein worked as a Solutions Director for Fair Isaac Corporation in San Diego and San Rafael (FICO). At Fair Isaac, he expanded the healthcare division to offer advanced analytic services for pharmaceutical manufacturers, disease management companies, and hospitals. He led the initial efforts to develop a patient Medication Adherence risk score to predict the risk of non-adherence at the time a patient receives a new prescription. The application enables providers and payers to reduce by 80% the time spent on case reviews for authorization, and reduces managed care denials received by provider facilities by 95%.

With his expertise in the areas of clinical psychology, program development and measurement, transaction data and analytics, managed care, software, and business management, Dr. Feinstein provides consultation services to payers and plans, provider organizations, disease management companies, and behavioral health practice groups and clinicians.
