Our Sevices: Fees & Insurance

Fees

Fees vary by the type of service requested, whether you have insurance coverage, and your ability to pay. We typically provide an initial introductory session to learn how we can help, and determine your insurance coverage and fees. If we are not the right provider for your needs, we do not charge for this session and will offer you a referral.

Insurance

As a courtesy to our patients, we take care of insurance billing and collection, including billing secondary payers for Medicare patients. This allows us to reduce patients’ out-of-pocket fees, and maintain confidentiality as we use secure, HIPAA-compliant electronic billing. It also allows us to work with the payers’ Case Managers and Medical Directors to assure our patients receive all necessary services.

Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance. We are contracted with the following payers:

  • Medicare
  • Beacon / Value Options, includes Kaiser members
  • MHN (HealthNet HMO, but not HealthNet)

We also receive payment from or are able to make special arrangements with:

  • AARP
  • Aetna
  • Anthem / Blue Cross of CA
  • Blue Shield, Blue Shield FEP, Blue Shield MHSA
  • CIGNA
  • Humana
  • Magellan
  • United Healthcare / Optum / UBH (United Behavioral Health)
  • and other insurance carriers

Please note that we are not able to provide services to patients who have Medi-Cal as secondary coverage to Medicare, or patients on Medi-Cal or any Medi-Cal health plan (e.g., HPSM).

If you request services from us, we will check your insurance coverage:

  • Do you have mental health insurance benefits?
  • Does your insurance pay for biofeedback?
  • Does your insurance cover out-of-network providers?
  • What is your deductible, and what portion has not yet been met?
  • Are there any limits to the number of sessions per year your health insurance allows?
  • What is the coverage amount and out-of-pocket payment amount per session?
  • Is approval required from your primary care physician or the payer's case manager?

Payment is accepted via all major credit cards, cash, check, PayPal, and VenMo.
